Discover Freediving in nusa penida
Unlock your potential, master the fundamentals of apnea and freediving
Are you interested in trying freediving? Our one-day Discover Freediving course is perfect for those who want to dip their toes into the world of freediving. This course is also the first day of our initial course, so if you enjoy it, you can continue with the rest of the program.
We will meet in the morning at our school to begin the academic session. During this session, you will learn the basics of freediving, including safety guidelines, equipment usage, and techniques for efficient breath-holding. After the theory session, we will take the boat out and go to a location where you will have the opportunity to try “freediving on the line,” which involves descending and ascending along a rope to help you maintain proper form and depth.
Once we finish the education process, we will move to the shallows of a beautiful and colorful reef, where you can practice your new skills and enjoy the stunning coral, which is teeming with marine life. After returning to the school, you will have a debrief with your instructor, who will provide feedback and answer any questions you may have.

Booking, payment and cancellation policies
Booking
We strongly recommend you book your fun diving or courses with us in advance.
In order to secure the desired dates and spots on our boat, we’ll need a 50% deposit from you. Please, make sure you understand our cancellation and refund policy (below), before you make your booking.
You can contact us by either e-mail, WhatsApp or Facebook messenger in order to secure your spot on the boat for the desired date. We do our best to respond as soon as possible within our operating hours.
Payment
You can make a deposit using various methods of payment – bank transfer, PayPal and Wise.
While in Nusa Penida you can settle your bill using all of the methods mentioned above, with credit or debit card (non-Indonesian cards attract 3% surcharge) and, of course, cash.
There are several ATMs between two harbours (Toyapakeh and Sampalan), power blackouts are possible though. It would be more comfortable to have some cash on you.
Please note, that we are located on a remote island. Though we do have card facilities, sometimes the connection can be lost for hours on the whole island. Settling in cash can often be the simplest and safest option.
There are money exchange offices on the island, however exchange rates are generally way better in Bali, so it’s wise to change your money while in Bali.
Cancellation and refund policy
Life is usually full of surprises and sometimes they are not exactly what we expect.
We strongly recommend you arrange travel insurance for your holiday, which may help you to smooth out unforeseen problems that might occur during your trip (hopefully not).
If you decide to or have to cancel your booked trip or package last minute – we won’t be able to refund.
Upon completing your booking with us we will send you a booking confirmation, indicating your itinerary (meeting time, departure time, expected duration of the experience, amount of the deposit paid and the amount due). Meeting time for all ocean activities is 30 minutes prior to the departure of our boats thus allowing sufficient time for filling up all necessary paperwork and getting the matching size wetsuits and booties.
Our boat departure time on particular dates, as well as the time we start the classes and pool training are based on ocean conditions (tides) and our operating hours. Please, kindly make sure you take the time mentioned in your booking confirmation into account while planning your trip and transfers, allowing enough time for reaching us in time for the booked program. In case you will be unable to reach us in time for the booked program – that will be considered a cancellation of your booking.
We will definitely do our best to help our guests out and reschedule the booked trip, though it might simply be not possible sometimes.
If you wish to cancel your booking 30 or more days prior to the booked date – we’ll refund the full amount (excluding transfer fees and charges). We will return 50 percent of the paid deposit if the cancellation is made within the period of 30 to 20 days prior to your booking. If you cancel less than 20 days prior to your booking your deposit is non-refundable.

Nusa Penida discover freediving
questions and answers
Think of “Discover Freediving” as a fun and fascinating introduction. Because it’s a half-day experience, it focuses on the basics of breath-hold and your first shallow ocean dive. The full Level 1 course, in contrast, is a multi-day certification program. It goes much deeper into safety, rescue, and technique, qualifying you to dive independently with a buddy.
This experience is specifically designed to build your comfort safely. First, you will learn all the breathing techniques in our pool. Then, in the ocean, we only dive in a calm, shallow bay to a maximum depth of 5-10 meters. You are always directly supervised by an instructor and will never be pushed beyond your personal comfort level.
While our Discover Freediving sessions take place at beautiful, vibrant coral reefs teeming with colourful fish, we do not visit the advanced deep-water sites like Manta Point. Therefore, seeing mantas is unlikely on this introductory dive. However, this experience will give you the foundational skills and confidence to take the next step towards exploring those famous sites.
Absolutely not. This experience is designed for complete beginners with no prior diving experience at all. Freediving and scuba diving are very different disciplines. In fact, many people find freediving more natural as it doesn’t involve heavy equipment. All you need is a basic level of comfort in the water.
The most valuable skill you will learn is conscious breath control. You will discover how to use the ‘relaxation response’ to calm your body and mind, which is the true secret to holding your breath longer. Ultimately, this is a powerful relaxation technique that is not only the foundation of freediving but also incredibly useful in everyday life.
